About TreadGrade
TreadGrade is a reference for two public U.S. tire files: NHTSA's UTQG ratings, and NHTSA's tire plant codes. It is for someone comparing a grade molded on a sidewall, or reading the DOT code to see which plant and which manufacture week it names.
It is not NHTSA, not the Department of Transportation, and not a tire dealer. It does not sell tires. It does not publish original tests, reviews, or prices. Grade and plant pages repeat the official records, with the preparation described on the data sources page.
Who runs this site
TreadGrade is operated by Three Pines Company LLC, Frankfort, Illinois.
If affiliate links are turned on later, they are labeled and disclosed. None are turned on in the default configuration. Sorts order the grades in NHTSA's list. They are not a ranking of the best tire, and they are not ordered by a commission.
